IRON WORKER LAFE THOMPSON PRESERVES HIS VISION AND REGAINS HIS LIFE THANKS TO MIRACLE HOLCOMB C3-R®

Beverly Hills, CA - June 1, 2010 Lafe Thompson, an Ohio based iron worker, had all but given up hope that the life that he knew would ever be the same. Diagnosed with Keratoconus, a devastating degenerative eye disease that weakens the cornea, Thompson underwent traditional surgeries to correct the problem, only to find his vision continuing to fail. Unable to drive or perform ordinary tasks, Lafe eventually lost his job in ironwork along with his ability to support his family.

Research lead the desperate Thompson to the C3-R® invented by Beverly Hills based Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler, MD of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute. The procedure was named after famed Olympic Men’s Bobsled driver gold medalist Steve Holcomb, a former surgical patient of Dr. Boxer-Wachler, Holcomb C3-R® is a non-surgical combination of vitamin applications and light which strengthens the cornea. This procedure is often followed by placing an insertable contact lens inside the eye in order to further improve vision.

Just a year ago, Holcomb, who also suffered from the condition, was cured by Dr. Boxer-Wachler and with his vision restored, he helped the U.S. 4 Man Bobsled team take home the first Gold in 62 years at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Celebrating Holcomb's remarkable comeback victory, Dr. Boxer Wachler renamed the procedure to “the Holcomb C3-R® “as a fitting tribute and hopes that Holcomb’s triumphant journey will inspire others with challenges of any kind to seek out innovative solutions.

A letter from Lafe Thompson’s sister arrived in Boxer Wachler’s office just as he and Holcomb were awash in the glow of victory. So moved were the pair by the ironworker’s plight that they decided to cover the cost for the bulk of his surgery. When asked by his sister what the surgery would mean to him, Thompson replied, “It is indescribable. It would change everything, my life, the life of my kids and the life of my family. It will put everything back on track. I would be able to get back to work, provide for my family and give a better life to my wife and kids.”

The first phase of Thompson’s treatment plan, the Holcomb C3-R® was successfully performed on Lafe on May 6^th and phase two will be completed in a few months. At that time Thompson’s vision will be completely restored and his life returned to normalcy, thanks to the miracle of sight.

Holcomb and Dr. Boxer Wachler plan to continue to help others in need, with the gift of sight.
